Calculate annual dividend yield as a percentage of current stock price
Dividend Yield
Annual Dividend Income
Dividend Yield measures the annual cash income you receive per rupee invested. A stock trading at ₹1,000 paying ₹50 annual dividend = 5% dividend yield. In India, dividends are paid by stable, mature companies (banks, telecom, FMCG, utilities) and popular indexes (Nifty 50, BSE Sensex). High dividend yield (6-8%) attracts income-focused investors, retirees, and NRIs seeking regular cash flow. However, high yield can signal distress (yield rises when stock price crashes, yield = dividend ÷ price). Dividend yield is taxed: until 2020, as dividend distribution tax (DDT) paid by company; now (2020+), dividend income in your hands taxed at slab rate + 10% TDS. This makes dividend-yield strategy less tax-efficient than capital appreciation (LTCG at 10%). This calculator helps evaluate dividend income potential, compare yields across stocks, and optimize dividend portfolio allocation. Essential for retirees, conservative investors, and NRI portfolio planners.
