Calculate total returns, CAGR, and compare fund performance

Mutual fund returns answer the fundamental question: "How much has my investment grown?" Two metrics matter: Absolute Return (total gain) and CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate, the annualized return). A ₹1 lakh investment becoming ₹1.5 lakh over 3 years = 50% absolute return, but CAGR is only 14.47% (meaning 14.47% annual average). CAGR allows fair comparison across funds with different holding periods. A 2-year fund returning 30% absolute (CAGR 14%) versus a 5-year fund returning 60% absolute (CAGR 10%)—CAGR shows the 2-year fund performed better annualized. In India, mutual fund performance is benchmarked against indices (Nifty 50 for equity), risk-adjusted returns, and peer funds. SEBI mandates 3-5 year CAGR disclosure. This calculator helps you evaluate your fund's performance against benchmarks and decide whether to hold, increase, or exit.
